E-Volution Expo 2026 is bringing electric vehicles, emerging technology, sustainability, and wellness to Ocean City. Blue Whale EV will be there for the full weekend as the event’s EV Infrastructure Sponsor, but our work begins one day earlier.
On Friday, September 18, Blue Whale EV Managing Director Nick McNulty will speak at TEDx Butterfish Cove. On Saturday and Sunday, our team will help power E-Volution Expo with free onsite EV charging for ticketed attendees.
It is a rare chance to hear an EV infrastructure leader on the TEDx stage, see mobile fast charging at work, and explore new technology in one weekend. Here is everything you need to know, starting with three reasons to join us at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center in Ocean City, Maryland.
The Weekend at a Glance
- Friday, September 18: Nick McNulty speaks at TEDx Butterfish Cove.
- Saturday, September 19: E-Volution Expo opens, with free EV charging, test drives, panels, and the Tesla Light Show that night.
- Sunday, September 20: A second expo day with more demos, panels, and an e-bike wheelie contest.
1. Hear Nick McNulty at TEDx Butterfish Cove
Nick McNulty will join the speaker lineup at TEDx Butterfish Cove on Friday, September 18. The event runs from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center inside the convention center.
TEDx Butterfish Cove is the first TEDx event in Ocean City. It is independently organized under a TED license. It is also a separate event from E-Volution Expo, with its own ticket.
About Nick McNulty
TED describes Nick as an EV Managing Director. He leads the development and deployment of charging projects at Blue Whale EV. His work includes projects for municipalities, schools, commercial properties, and multifamily communities.
Nick’s interest in electrification began at Clarkson University, where he studied EV charging feasibility. Today, he focuses on the partnerships, planning, and infrastructure that make charging projects possible.
That experience gives Nick a practical view of the EV transition. Charging is not only about a piece of equipment. It depends on power, location, funding, operations, and the people who use it.
What Nick Previewed on Ocean 98.1
The public speaker list does not yet include Nick’s talk title. But on September 11, Nick joined the morning show on Ocean 98.1, the expo’s media title sponsor, and shared a preview of one of his main topics.
He explained that Blue Whale EV installs EV chargers throughout the Mid-Atlantic for government organizations, businesses, municipalities, and multifamily properties. The team has worked on EV charging for about six years, and its commercial electrical company has operated for more than a decade.
How EV charging access has changed
One of the big ideas Nick will bring to the TEDx stage is how quickly EV charging has changed. “It’s remarkable how fast the technology is improving,” he said.
- About 15 years ago: The technology and public access were so limited that EV driving just was not practical for most people.
- Five or six years ago: Drivers often pulled up and found no charging at all.
- Today: Many drivers pull into a busy station and find every charger in use. As adoption grows, communities need more charging in more places.

Where drivers will charge
Nick described three kinds of charging that work together:
- At home and at work: Where most daily charging will happen.
- Level 2 charging: For longer stops of about four to six hours, or overnight.
- Level 3 (DC fast) charging: For road trips and quick top-ups. Most drivers can charge in about 30 minutes to an hour, and 45 minutes is a common sweet spot.

What comes next
Better batteries, including solid-state batteries, and longer vehicle range will shorten charging times. “We’re right on the edge,” Nick said, of technology that lets anyone feel confident as an EV driver.
Nick’s tip for charging anxiety
As an EV driver, Nick knows the fear of a low battery, often called range or charging anxiety. His advice is to treat your car like your phone. You don’t wait for your phone to die before you plug it in. When you pull up to an available charger, top off your vehicle.

2. Charge Your EV for Free During E-Volution Expo
Blue Whale EV and Lincoln Electric will provide free onsite fast charging during E-Volution Expo hours. The complimentary service is available to ticketed attendees on Saturday and Sunday.
Four Lincoln Electric Velion® 50kW Mobile DC Fast Chargers will support the event. These units bring DC fast charging to locations that do not need a permanent charger after the event ends.
How the free charging works
- Get your expo ticket. Free charging is for ticketed E-Volution Expo attendees.
- Arrive during public hours. Charging runs from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday and 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday.
- Follow the onsite signs. The four mobile 50kW stations will operate in the convention center parking area.
- Plug in and head inside. Blue Whale EV, Lincoln Electric, and event partners will manage the equipment and charging area while you explore.

Why mobile DC fast charging matters

The setup is more than a convenience for EV drivers. It is a working demonstration of flexible charging infrastructure in a real event environment. After the expo, the equipment can move to its next job.
That flexibility is useful well beyond public events. Mobile charging can support:
- Dealerships and vehicle demonstrations
- Fleets and service operations
- Construction sites and temporary projects
- Bridge charging while a permanent installation is built
Blue Whale EV is a certified reseller of the Lincoln Velion® 50kW Mobile DC Fast Charger. Our team helps customers decide when mobile charging fits and when a permanent installation is the better choice.
Other public chargers in Ocean City
If you need a charge outside expo hours, the E-Volution visitor guide lists these public stations:
- Convention Center South Lot: 2 DC fast chargers and 6 Level 2 chargers
- Worcester Street: 2 Level 2 chargers
- 100th Street Library: 4 Level 2 chargers
- Northside Park: 2 Level 2 chargers

3. Explore Electric Transportation and Emerging Technology

E-Volution Expo is broader than an auto show. Organized by Mana4Life, the public event connects electric and hybrid transportation with smart-home technology, sustainability, health, wellness, and emerging technology. For anyone looking for EV events in Maryland this fall, it puts vehicles, charging, and the people behind them in one place.
EV and Hybrid Ride and Drive
Test-drive electric and hybrid vehicles from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday and 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday. Pohanka Toyota of Salisbury and Annapolis Cars are among the partners bringing vehicles.
The BlackFly Electric Aircraft
A BlackFly all-electric aircraft will be on display inside the expo during public hours on both days. Visitors can meet Heather Chirtea and take photos with the aircraft.
The Tesla Light Show
On Saturday from 9:00 to 9:30 p.m., about 150 Teslas will perform a synchronized light show in the convention center’s front parking lot. The show is choreographed by Simon Pollock and coordinated by the Tesla Owners Club of Maryland.
Expert Panels and Live Q&A
Expert panel seminars with live Q&A run from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday and 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Sunday. See the official E-Volution schedule for topics and panelists.
Smart Homes, Sustainability, and Wellness
The expo floor also includes:
- Smart-home technology from Schell Brothers
- Robotics demos from RobotLAB Bethesda

Why Blue Whale EV Is Taking Part
E-Volution Expo 2026 puts new ideas in front of the people who can use them. That matches how Blue Whale EV approaches electric transportation.
We help customers move from interest to a workable charging plan. That includes understanding a site, matching equipment to real demand, and planning for long-term service.
At this event, visitors can see both sides of that work. Nick will speak about the ideas behind infrastructure and access. Then our team will put mobile charging equipment to work throughout the weekend. People can hear the conversation, see the equipment, charge their vehicles, and talk with the team responsible for the operation.
